Unfortunately enough, today’s opinion on how architecture should be concerns no longer the actual being of architecture, but the image, the collage.
Architecture should be about the location: what’s already present, what will be present in the future and in what are it’s consequences on the location; the intervention, the harmful effects; the continual change and influence of light; the perfection or imperfection of it’s details; and lastly, the materialization.
The main goal of designing this building was to create and build a house, which looks as if it has been initially build at this location; the constructing lines are not influenced by the quality of the location, but correspond to the present building lines. The house is designed and organised over a garden with originally planted trees. It’s a composition of blocks with simple, strong volumes and a strong construction of its facades; lastly, the windows offer these volumes rhythm and measurements.
This architecture results in a kind of banality and commonness; the need and precision to embed one building to it’s location and to design a house to come home to, no object which could be build on any location.
